i just got rejected from a third job interview. it’s the first time i’m encountering this streak of bad luck with regard to temp jobs because let’s face it, what are the chances are getting rejected when the job doesn’t even pay much, and isn’t requesting much to begin with? thankfully, i’m not taking it too hard. a part of me doesn’t want to start work just as yet although i could really do with the dough. i wonder if my reluctance was transparent during the interviews.

i remember, while in the waiting room for my first interview, there were two girls next to me who watched me fumble my way into the office prior. it was the first day of my period and i just got done with crying non-stop throughout half of my train journey. i’m so sick of having to spend at least one hour to get anywhere decent, and having to steel myself from collapsing in front of a bunch of strangers who could care less about the disgusting muck of tears and mucus lining my face. i was in a daze after getting off the bus, unsure if i was in front of the right office or not before entering. it turns out that my interviewer noticed this. she brought me in and i could see the look of judgment on her face. shrank deeper into myself right then and there. something in her eyes told me that i shouldn’t bother wasting anyone’s time if my posture was to be this slumped and if my eyes like those of a deer in the headlights. i went in all the same, seated myself next to the two girls who felt the need to gossip about me behind my back. the interview went as horribly as i’d anticipated. at one point, she asked me about my strengths and swiftly assisted to contradict me and flush the remains of my self-esteem down the drain.

sometimes, when i think it’s necessary for me to get stuff like this off my chest because i hardly tell anyone about anything anymore, it turns out to be a big mistake as i end up crying way more than i should. i don’t think i’ve spoken more than 10 lines to my family members in the last couple of weeks. can’t deny that it’s not a conscious effort sometimes. she wants me to be happy and healthy like other normal kids but when i can’t maintain that facade well enough, i feel her gaze constantly over my shoulder wanting to make sure that i’m okay 100% of the time. it’s driving me into a corner and i simply cannot breathe.
